Our Beliefs

At The ROCK ATX, we are a Bible-centered, Spirit-filled community following Jesus together. We believe that God created all people in His image, that we are separated from Him by sin, and that salvation comes only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, we are forgiven, made new, and invited into God’s family. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we grow in holiness, live out God’s Word in everyday life, and join His mission to love, serve, and reach our city and the world.

What does it mean to be a Christian?

To be a Christian means you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. You believe He died for your sins, rose from the dead, and you now follow Him with your whole life. It’s not just a label or a tradition, but a living relationship with God through Jesus.

Scripture: John 3:16; Romans 10:9–10; 2 Corinthians 5:17

Why do I need to be saved?

All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s standard. Sin separates us from God and leads to spiritual death. We can’t fix this by good works or religion. We need God’s rescue, which He provides through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Salvation is God’s gift, received by faith.

Scripture: Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8–9

How do I become a Christian?

You become a Christian by turning to God in repentance and placing your faith in Jesus. This means admitting your sin, believing that Jesus died and rose for you, and confessing Him as Lord of your life. You can express this in a simple, sincere prayer, and then begin to walk with Him daily.

Scripture: Acts 2:37–38; Romans 10:9–13; John 1:12

What is repentance, and why is it important?

Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God. It’s more than feeling sorry; it’s a change of heart and direction. God calls us to leave our old way of living and follow Jesus with obedience and trust. Repentance is part of truly responding to the gospel.

Scripture: Acts 3:19; Luke 13:3; 1 John 1:9

How do I know if I am really saved?

You can have assurance of salvation by trusting God’s promises in His Word. If you have put your faith in Jesus, confessed Him as Lord, and see the Holy Spirit beginning to change your desires and actions, you can rest in what God says—not just in how you feel.

Scripture: 1 John 5:11–13; Romans 8:16; John 10:27–29

Why is being part of a local church important?

Following Jesus is not meant to be a solo journey. The local church is a spiritual family where we worship, learn God’s Word, receive care, serve others, and grow together. God uses the church to strengthen our faith and to send us out to impact the world.

Scripture: Hebrews 10:24–25; Acts 2:42–47; 1 Corinthians 12:12–14

What does church membership mean at The ROCK ATX?

Church membership at The ROCK ATX is a commitment to walk together in faith, accountability, and mission. Members affirm our core beliefs, participate regularly in worship and small groups, serve with their gifts, give faithfully, and support the vision God has given this house.

Scripture: Romans 12:4–5; Ephesians 4:1–3; Philippians 1:3–5

Do I need to be baptized, and what does baptism represent?

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It does not save you, but it publicly identifies you with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. We encourage every believer to be baptized as an act of obedience and a powerful testimony of new life in Christ.

Scripture: Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 6:3–4; Acts 2:41

How can I grow in my faith after I say “yes” to Jesus?

Growth comes as you spend time with God and His people: read and obey the Bible, pray daily, worship, connect to a small group or class, serve in a ministry, and share your faith with others. The Holy Spirit will guide and empower you as you take these steps.

Scripture: Colossians 2:6–7; 2 Peter 3:18; John 15:5

How can I get connected at The ROCK ATX if I’m ready to take the next step?

We’d love to walk with you. Your next step might be visiting in person, joining a small group, serving on a team, or signing up for a new believers or membership class. You can connect with us through the “Plan Your Visit,” “Events,” or “Contact” areas on our site, or by talking with a leader in person.
